PROJECT DESCRIPTION

“Create Paddle Ability 2020” will be a training course in Slovakia, which would create a learning opportunity for youth leaders and youth workers from different European countries to increase their competencies in using water based programs, to be able to create space and environment for supporting personal development and empowerment of youth with fewer opportunities or physical disabilities. During the training course the youth workers and leaders will acquire new skillset in water based activities, such as kayaking.

The aim of the training will be to develop youth workers’ skills and toolboxes for working with young people through experiential education methodology, kayaking as a strong tool for social inclusion.

The training’s objectives are to:
– Develop new skills for using with outdoor education and in particularly water based activities when working with disadvantaged youth
– Create space for sharing best practices in the field of working with young people with fewer opportunities, social inclusion and disabilites
– Create space for practicing the acquired skills on water and land
– Create outdoor education methodology, what is relevant to the local community in Slovakia and applicable for young people with disadvantaged background
– Leading and planning skills
– Application of new skills durung a short practice with students

The training will be a platform to meet people, who are experienced in working with youngsters with fewer opportunities and people with outdoor education background. The long term goal of the project is for the trained workers and youth leader to be able to implement water-based experiential learning programs with the aim of social inclusion on local level, in their own organizations and countries.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

Training course Create Paddle Ability will take place from September 30th to October 10th 2021 in Čuňovo, Slovakia and at Danube River.
