CREATING PADDLE ABILITY
Join us in the ADVENTURE of creating space for increasing the competencies of youth workers and leaders in using non-formal education methods, in particular water-based experiential learning activities in order to support personal development of young people with fewer opportunities.
“Creating Paddle Ability” will be a training course in Slovakia, which would create a learning opportunity for youth leaders and youth workers from different European countries to increase their competencies in using non-formal education methods, in particular water based programs, to be able to create space and environment for supporting personal development and empowerment of youth with fewer opportunities. During the training course the youth workers and leaders will acquire new skillset in water based activities, such as kayaking and canoeing.
The methodology which will be used during the program is non-formal education and experiential education through outdoor activities and more specifically water-based activities. The aim of the training will be to develop youth workers’ skills and toolboxes for working with young people through experiential education methodology and in particular using water based activities as a strong tool for social inclusion.

– Create space for sharing best practices in the field of working with young people with fewer opportunities and social inclusion
– Create space for practicing the acquired skills
– Create outdoor education methodology, what is relevant to the local community in Slovakia and applicable for young people with disadvantaged background
The training is designed to develop technical skills when working with outdoor activities and in the same time explore the possibilities for using them in the work with young people with fewer opportunities. It will be a platform to meet people, who are experienced in working
with youngsters with fewer opportunities and people with outdoor education background. The official language of the training will be English, and the course will be led by internationally certified trainers and specialists.
The long term goal of the project is for the trained workers and youth leader to be able to implement water- based experiential learning programs with the aim of social inclusion on local level, in their own organizations and countries.
The project will be implemented in 2019, dates are 22st-31th May. The venue for most of the activities will be Bratislava Čunovo and river Danube up to Gabčíkovo. The whole project is managed by Outward Bound Slovakia.
Prázdninová škola Lipnice (CZ)
Prazdninová škola Lipnice (PSL) is a non-profit NGO. Their goal is to motivate people with various challenges and mobilise their courage and creativity, which is required for an active acquiring of experiences. PSL has a 40 years of tradition and experience in developing and bringing novel modern methods of experiential learning to individuals, educators and lecturers. We take our name from “Lipnice”, the town where our first center base was built.
The best definition for our organization is a workshop of experiential learning. Using nature and word of experiences as a classroom, our participants discover and develop their skills and powers within.
Our mission is to inspire character development and self-discovery in people of all ages. Through challenge and adventure we impel them to achieve more than they ever thought was possible. We inspire them to feel compassion for others, take responsibility for their behaviour and community and actively engage in creating a better world.
